So today after a blood test and radiation therapy (three down, two more to go! woo!) I met with my oncologist to review last week's PET scan, and I was shocked to see it looks worse than the one I had back in February - but perhaps my memory fails me, I'm not sure. The hospital where I had my first PET scan did not upload it to my government health files so the hospital here has no access to compare last week's scan to the original one. I don't remember having six vertebrae affected, only one. My rib and pelvis seem to have gotten worse as well. Lymph nodes seem stable and all vital organs are normal which, for me, is super important.
Tumors light up in a PET scan, then they are monitored via CT scans every three months. As you can see (or not...) I have two on my cervical vertebrae, two on my thorax vertebrae and two on my lumbar. Right rib, entire left side of pelvis, and lymph nodes.
I will get a new CT scan next week and then we will know how fast the tumors are spreading - or not, I mean who knows? Maybe I lit up like this last February and I'm fairly stable since starting chemo in April?
I feel good though, I mean I'm fatigued very easily and yes my bones hurt but it's controlled with pain meds and I'm mentally positive that at some point they'll find a treatment that helps me find a good quality of life until the inevitable. I may have a few good years left, that's what I'm fighting for.
Sorry today's post was a downer.
Life is good, be sure to appreciate every moment of health you have my beautiful people! xox
